StartXplorer is a simple tool that was designed to mirror a directory with shortcuts to another directory.

For each file in the original directory, a shortcut to that file is created in the target directory. The most useful application for this is allowing you to have a sort of "mini-explorer" in your start menu; create the mirror in
your start menu, and you can browse folders and directories, run programs, open documents, etc.

Using StartXplorer is pretty simple. Start it, enter the source directory (the directory that will be mirrored), and the destination directory (where all the shortcuts will be created). You have the option to place it in your start menu automatically. Press OK. StartXplorer will minimize as it is working; when it is
done, it will restore itself, and you can go again if you please.

Some usage tips:
· While it is possible, I don't recomend indexing entire hard drives because it takes a while. Just index your commonly used folders.
· Index your MP3 directory (the contents of which, of course, are all legally acquired, for fast access.
· Use the Shortcut Target PowerToy from Microsoft to make the index even more useful in the start menu: you can manipulate the files right from within it!
